What is TSP™?

The Birth of TSP™

TSPTM was created from years of experience working with thousands of people in one-on-one and group sessions, who felt trapped reliving the same emotional struggles for years, many since childhood. These include depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), pain bodies and relationship issues – stemming from poor self-regard, low self-esteem, traumatic experiences and a detachment from their core self.

TSPTM is designed as a systematic progressive and unique approach that meshes different therapy styles into a system to make change happen more readily – these include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), Solution-Oriented Therapy, Mindfulness and Active Meditation. TSPTM also borrows from the science of metaphysics as well as more holistic philosophies of good living to incorporate psychoeducational themes, drawing from many branches of wisdom-based practices and principles from the great masters and thinkers of different generations.

Why Does Self-Care Matter?

When life gets busy, many people sacrifice looking after their own needs and wants in an effort to keep up with their schedules. They may skip meals, miss out on sleep, forego the gym, or simply stop taking any time to relax as it makes them feel they are somehow not being ‘efficient’.

But by not taking the time for yourself, you will not feel able to properly handle stressful situations, will get easily overwhelmed, depressed, and not feel happy in yourself. The goal of self-care is to prioritize these and other activities to keep your body and mind healthy, and have a balanced lifestyle that prioritizes your own well-being.

What Are the Benefits of Self-Care?

Self-care is key for helping relieve feelings of anxiety and depression, and is a critical tool for maintaining good mental health in day-to-day life.

The most important benefit of self-care is that it produces positive thoughts and feelings. When you take time to relax, you are able to let go of the stresses and worries of everyday life. This, in turn, can help improve your level of self-esteem and confidence in yourself. Our self-esteem counselling places an emphasis on self-care because it can help you become more aware of your own self-worth.

Self-care is also crucial for preventing a state of physical, mental, and emotional exhaustion otherwise known as ‘burnout’. This can easily take place after a period of prolonged stress, especially if you have neglected to take care of yourself in the process. Performing even small self-care activities such as taking a hot bath, going for a walk, or catching up with friends will help you preserve your mental and physical energy.


But Is Self-Care…Selfish?

Self-care is not selfish in the least!

Taking the time to look after your own well-being will have a positive effect on your life but also for your friends and family. You will have the energy to be kinder, more compassionate, and more open to forgiveness. By setting functional boundaries and not overextending yourself, you’ll also be modelling positive behaviour and may even inspire others to also prioritize their own health and well-being. 

By taking care of yourself, you will be more effective in pursuit of your goals. Self-care allows you to get what you want by helping you find the intrinsic motivation to go out and chase it. It will help you feel rested, refreshed, rejuvenated, and ready to tackle the tasks ahead of you. And you’ll be more productive and more resilient in the face of stress or challenging situations.
