blog july 25How often do you look outside of yourself for motivation, inspiration or a particular feeling to gain energy in order to achieve your goal(s)?

Many times you want to get up and go! But…your energy is so low. You can’t seem to get yourself to the gym, to work on time, to go on a bike ride…can’t, can’t, CAN’T!

So, what should you do?

First, understand that feelings come from within, not from without. Motivation is a feeling – the feeling of wanting something enough to get up to go after it; it is not something that can be found externally, but rather internally. This is why you can get a boost when you seek it from the outside, but it won’t last until you feel motivated to reach your goal from within.  

Second, change your inner dialogue to something more conducing to getting what you want. I CAN go to the gym, I CAN get to work on time, I CAN finish my taxes. Remove the word ‘can’t’ from your vocabulary and change it to ‘can’.

And third, to raise your energy, you must think of what you want in a way that feels good. How would you feel if you knew you could get to the body weight you always wanted? Or, your dream job? Wouldn’t you feel good? Wouldn’t you feel energized knowing you can achieve your desires? That’s how you build the energy to go after what you want… Feel you already have it!

So build motivation from within by saying you can and feel good it’s coming your way.
