“Life is so hard!”
Does this sound familiar?
One of the things you see as a psychologist is how people tend to make everything much more complicated than it needs to be. Hence, the suffering.
But what has life done to you that you didn’t do to yourself?
I know many of you are thinking of difficult upbringings and traumas that have caused you pain. That person who should have loved you, but left you high and dry. Not all pains are from you.
But what I see is how we handle life situations and how we treat ourselves. And what I found was people just made it harder than it needed to be.
Basically, our life experiences come from our choices – just like choosing what to eat in a buffet. You can’t blame life for your acid reflux and bloating if you chose to overstuff your face!
Our quality of life is much the same way – it’s the result of choices we make rather than random life occurrences. We are creatures of habit and therefore, we tend to repeat the same choices. And it’s that repetition that brings about a life result.
Basically, life is not hard. The way you’re living it may be.
To live a happier life, how about making choices that would lead to it?
Think about it, and let me know some of the better choices you’ve made.
